Comprehensive coverage, but explanations somewhat lacking

I used these questions (in their online form) to prepare for the shelf exam in my IM clerkship. IM essentials covers many of the most important topics for the exam and is a good alternative to UWorld for fairly comprehensive coverage across fewer questions. On the other hand, the answer explanations were somewhat poorly written and had a relatively narrow scope compared to UWorld explanations. The explanations here were overly formal and technical in comparison to the more conversational and explanatory style of UWorld. I think IM essentials is adequate as a self-testing tool, but is less useful as a primary learning tool the way Uworld can be used.

I studied for the shelf exam with the videos on onlinemeded.org, these questions, and about 1/3 of the UWorld medicine questions and scored in the 80s. Overall, I think this is a valuable resource if you will not have time to finish UWorld.

Beautifully written!

Captive Witch is so raw, haunting and compelling, it demands attention. It is tragic and destructive from the beginning to the end, yet beautiful, sad and painfully honest at the same time. I love Cage's thought-provoking portrayal of the world of sexual violence and relationships that are self-destructive & all-consuming, and the juxtaposition of that with the paradigm of a progressive morality that abhors violence and subordination of women. It was interesting how Cage demonstrated how the latter could handicap one from embracing, recognizing and accepting love in its rawest form. Highly recommended!

This is honestly my favorite book from Soraya Cage. Not only is it suspenseful, thrilling, heart breaking, and full of complex emotions throughout, but the end will leave you on your knees, begging for mercy, yet knowing that it could only end in that way. The climax is amazing, and will have you reading it again just to let it sink in. Never have vampires and witches been so thoroughly described, analyzed, and brought forth as dark creatures with intense human emotions! I am assured that readers will not be dissatisfied with this magnificent story that portrays complex characters that will have you denying what is right and wrong. Though this is a book in a series, it can be read as a stand alone, but I highly recommend reading all Cage's stories.

I really don't have the words to fully express the raw honesty of Soraya Cage's writing style. I deeply connect with each of her characters in each of the books she writes. Her books leave a lasting impression, I know that this somber (but beautifully written) ending will stay with me through out the day as my heart feels for the loss of each other characters in this book. Each character (in all her books) will surprise you, you'll find that you ride the emotional highs and lows with each of them. This is extremely rare for me to find in any book. As a result, Soraya Cage gas skyrocketed to the top my my favorite authors list.

Jonathan Schorsch is Assistant Professor of Jewish Studies in the Religion Department of Columbia University. The Best is that Jonathan Schorsch was my Professor, so naturally I/we got a first hand experience with not just understanding but having the advantage of being part of the discourse of the true understanding of all the vast, mostly unknown, knowledge that went into this reveling book - it is is MUST read, not only for students partaking in Religious studies, but for anyone who wants to expand their mind.

One of the most thoroughly researched academic studies I've ever read. Fascinated material and history about Western Sephardi Diaspora and their relationship to slavery and blackness. Has enriched my understanding of Jewish history, interaction of Jewish Law and its surrounding realities, and construction of the idea of race. Read it years ago and I still think about it frequently.

About the Author
Agustin Fernandez Mallo was born in La Coruna in 1967. He is a qualified physicist and since 2000 has been collaborating with various cultural publications in order to highlight the connection between art and science. His Nocilla Trilogy, published between 2006 and 2009, brought about an important shift in contemporary Spanish writing and paved the way for the birth of a new generation of authors, known as the 'Nocilla Generation'. He has also published a book of stories, El hacedor (de Borges), remake, and the essay Postpoesia, hacia un nuevo paradigma. His poetry is collected in the volume Ya nadie se llamara como yo + Poesia reunida (1998-2012) and his latest novel, Limbo, was published in Spain in 2014.

It's a mysterious globalised dream of a book

I love the fragments, without sense and reason at first but everything is linked. Like an allegory of the globalised world were the identity is created in the fragments of the whole world without national fixpoints and frames. This is a globalised book and it rocks you like an indie musicpiece and leave you partly numb partly thrilled! Recomendable!
